330908-00-15-05-02-00 3300 NSv Proximity Probe – Technical Overview
The 330908-00-15-05-02-00 belongs to the 3300 NSv series from Bently Nevada. This probe offers superior chemical resistance for process compressor applications. It remains mechanically and electrically compatible with the previous 3300 RAM probe series. The side-view characteristics also outperform the 3000-series 190 probe at the same gap distance.
- Linear Range: The probe provides a 1.5 mm (60 mils) linear range. This range starts at roughly 0.25 mm (10 mils) from the target. It operates from 0.25 to 1.75 mm (10 to 70 mils), corresponding to -1 to -13 Vdc.
- Recommended Gap Setting: We recommend setting the gap at 1.0 mm (40 mils) for optimal performance.
- Incremental Scale Factor (ISF): The ISF equals 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil). This includes a +12.5%/-20% interchangeability error when measured in 0.25 mm (10 mil) steps over the full linear range.
- Deviation from Best Fit Straight Line (DSL): The DSL is less than ±0.06 mm (±2.3 mils), ensuring high linearity.
- Frequency Response: Typical response goes from 0 to 10 kHz with +0, -3 dB. This holds true with up to 305 meters (1000 feet) of field wiring.
- Target Size Requirements: The minimum flat target diameter is 8.9 mm (0.35 in). We recommend a minimum diameter of 13 mm (0.5 in). For axial measurements on shafts smaller than 13 mm (0.5 in), the scale factor may change. Reducing the probe gap helps limit this change. Refer to Figure 12 for more details.
Probe DC Resistance and Cable Specifications
- Probe DC Resistance (RPROBE): For a 0.5 meter probe length, resistance from the center conductor to the outer conductor is 4.0 ± 0.5 ohms.
- Extension Cable DC Resistance: The center conductor has 0.220 Ω/m (0.067 Ω/ft). The shield has 0.066 Ω/m (0.020 Ω/ft).
- Extension Cable Capacitance: Typical capacitance is 69.9 pF/m (21.3 pF/ft).
- Field Wiring Guidelines: Use 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (16 to 24 AWG) wire. For ferrules, use 0.25 to 0.75 mm² (18 to 23 AWG). We recommend using a three-conductor shielded triad cable. The maximum length between the 3300 XL NSv Proximitor Sensor and the monitor is 305 meters (1000 feet). See frequency response graphs (Figure 16 and Figure 17) for signal rolloff at high frequencies with longer wiring.
Environmental and Mechanical Ratings
- Operating Temperature: The probe works from -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F).
- Storage Temperature: The storage range is the same: -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F).
- Probe Tip Material: The tip uses Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS).
- Probe Case Material: The case is AISI 304 stainless steel (SST).
- Probe Cable Type: It uses a 75 Ω coaxial cable with fluoroethylene propylene (FEP) insulation. Total probe lengths available: 0.5, 1, 5, or 7 meters.
- Pressure Sealing: The 3300 NSv probe seals differential pressure between the tip and case. A Viton O-ring provides the sealing material. The factory does not pressure test probes before shipment. Contact the custom design department if you need a pressure seal test for your application.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Is this probe new and original? Yes, we supply only new and original units in factory packaging.
- Do you have this model in stock? Yes, we keep the 330908-00-15-05-02-00 in stock for immediate orders.
- What is your shipping time? We ship within 5 business days after order confirmation.
- Which carriers do you use? We commonly use FedEx, UPS, and DHL for fast delivery.
- Can I return this probe? Yes, you can return the probe within 30 days of receipt.
- What happens if I exceed the maximum torque? Exceeding 0.56 N•m (5 in•lb) may damage the probe case or threads.
- Is the probe compatible with 3300 RAM extension cables? Yes, it is mechanically and electrically interchangeable with previous 3300 RAM cables.
- Does the probe work on small shaft diameters? For shafts under 13 mm (0.5 in), the scale factor may change. Reduce the gap to minimize this effect.
